My son has a pet Husky Rat and wanted one as a cake for his 11th Birthday. He wanted it making in a heavy chocolate cake, which was quite difficult to carve to shape but he loved the result, not that he wants to cut into it now lol!

Two vanilla sponge cakes filled with buttercream and dark chocolate and Baileys ganache. I liked the plain version but decided that the addition of piped white chocolate Celtic writing and love knots would make it more romantic.

My Ice Dragon guarding his jewels. I made him just to practice technique with sugar and shape. All fully edible.

Fire and Ice cake made to represent my new business name. Cake is a standard vanilla sponge coated with buttercream and decorated with coloured sugar work.

An exercise in getting as much cake into the shape as possible and making it reasonably easy to cut and portion out. I managed to make this big enough for around 16-18 dessert portions or 30ish smaller taster portions. It tasted “lush” so I am told – good job my kids love cake!

This is my totally edible Dragon – I am just starting out as a business and I made this as a showpiece, I was quite pleased with how it turned out.
