Fondant grass using a sieve

68 days ago by JustForTheCakeOfIt | 24 comments »

I just posted this on facebook today and thought I’d share with all of you here. It was a trick I learned in College and still use today. It’s my first tutorial and quite simple; but, it is useful if you’ve just run out of royal icing or buttercream, lost that grass tip, want your grass a bit finer than from a garlic press or don’t yet have an extruder. Hopefully it will be helpful to a few of you. Thanks for looking. :) You only need 5 tools:■a mesh sieve■a thi...

chocolate decadence #2: Faux Ganache or "Crusting Chocolate Buttercream" GF, LF

99 days ago by Olivia's Bakery | 7 comments »

Hello, good morning! just wonna post in case I ever loose my recipe book, I can come back here: when covering a cake, you have to work faster than with butercream, but you have ways more time compared to ganache. So I took a few hours to figure them out and I documented the process. Let’s start with an image of the technique, almost completed: Pretty, huh? The best part is, you only need 2 tips to accomplish this look! I have seen a rose tip used to make ruffles, but I have found that the Ateco Tip 070 is absolut...

115 days ago by genzLoveACake | 2 comments »

This is for those people who are not so skillled in using paintbrush like me. :) Just realized that Isograph Techical Pens can be used for your wanted sharpness and crispiness of your hand-written text and drawing outlines on your cakes. You just need to buy a new and empty Isograph Tecnical Pen (refillable) and fill it with edible ink (same ink which you can use in edible printers ) and your good to go. Happy Decorating everyone :)
