Weathered Wafer Technique

Hey guys!!! I don’t know why it’s taken so long for me to post this but I’m doing it now :)
Back in February I was making my entry for Cake Fest and wanted a very rough, realistic, and most importantly EASY bark texture.
So I used what I had on hand: Fondant, wafer paper, water, paint brush, cocoa powder and black petal dust. And that’s when it happened!

Yes! The texture and it curled up as the wafer dried to give it the most amazing rough texture I was looking for!!!!! I used it for my cake board and the judges raved about it. I won first place with that cake! Went home and filmed a tutorial on it. This is a game changer for an easy bark texture. No joke! 10 minutes and you can have a tier covered in planks of realistic looking bark.

I’ve included the link so you can make it yourself. If you use it please use the #WeatheredWaferTechnique so I can see it. I love seeing what everyone has created using this super versatile technique. "":http://youtu.be/Ik3tx__hFdw

OMG Kass I used your method on a piece I did back in June and absolutely love it. I will also be using it next week on a wedding cake. Thank you for this, it is so simple to follow the tutorial and minimal cost to do!

Just saw the video…great tutorial! Thanks 😊

Thank you for sharing this with us Kass, I am pretty sure this was the cake you did for The Sugar Arts showcase in San Antonio as I was one of the judges and this cake was totally fabulous, so much better in person!
