United Nations of Sugar Art #2: UNSA BeTeamRED a collaboration to benefit The Global Fund

This year, under the UNSA logo we will stand together as Team Be RED on December 1st to honor the importance of World AIDS Day.
We want to remember those lost to Aids and those still living with HIV and AIDS. We want to acknowledge that 600 children a day are infected with HIV through mother to child transmission. Finally we want to say, “no more” to the stigma and discrimination due to being HIV positive.

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria has been waging war against AIDS since 2002 and it is our chosen charity for UNSA 2015. Over 200 Artists using edible mediums have volunteered their time, materials and talent to stand together to support the Global Fund.

“An International financing organization that partners governments, civil society, the private sector and people affected by the disease the The Global Fund mobilizes billions of dollars a year to support local programs.” – (RED)

What does this statement mean? The Global Fund makes sure that fundraising is done appropriately, donations gets to where they should, that the programs receiving the money are held accountable for their success or failure and that new initiatives are supported and implemented.

UNSA members have created works of art for you, our guests to enjoy. It is our hope that these showpieces will cause you to pause and take a moment to reflect on your own thoughts regarding those living with HIV/AIDS.
