Tool review - water brush pen

Hi all,

This is one of my favourite tools – the water colour brusH20 pen by Zig. I have the green one which I believe is a medium tip. I find it perfect to dampen sugarpaste and gumpaste elements to get them to stick without making them too wet, I’ve used it on wafer paper too and even larger strips of fondant before application to the cake. It prevents spilling a pot of water or dripping it everywhere, is a must-have for my cake travel repair kit and I use it to clean up stray marks of colour or edible paint quickly before it dries. You can see me use it in my gumpaste wisteria video, I also used it on my CI entry fabric & jewel cake, and my Laduree & white on white cakes. It’s fully washable if the tip discolours and robust, and the tip has stayed at a point despite several months of use (unlike many of my regular paintbrushes!). I highly recommend getting one. I’ve seen them on amazon, but I bought mine for just £1.50 from hobbycraft who also have a website.

Hope you found this useful!

I’ve never seen or heard of this interesting little tool. Sounds very worthwhile. Have to see if it’s available here in Canada.

I also have this one but have not used it yet, dont ask me why but I am going to try it tonight when I get home

Yup I definitely would recommend trying /buying this. Almost wish I bought a second, but the first is doing so well I wouldn’t actually need it! Xx

I bought one quite some time ago from Francis McNaughton in the U.K. It is a very useful tool as described above.

that is interesting….do you have a link for your wisteria video please? thanks

Yes I bought one of these for when I used to make cards as it is great for watercolours. Then when I started making cakes I realised they were just as useful x
