Help with size

Hi guys so I have a request from a client who wants her birthday cake like the image below. But the catch is that it’s for 10-12 people only. So any ideas on how I should resize this big cake for 10-12 people keeping the aesthetics of it alive.

Thanks in advance.

Hi! You could do a 2 tier cake. Do a 6" pan on the bottom (serves 8) and a 4" on top (serves 4). Good luck!

Yum Cakes and Treats

I agree with YumCakes. Here is a link to a (free) calculator that I have found very helpful in determining the size I need. It also gives you an option to see a sketch what the cake would look like stacked. https://www.bakingit.com/index2.html#tierCombinations

Thank you yumcakes for the advise think I’ll go with that size. You don’t think the size will effect the over all look of the cake?

Oh that’s very interesting. Will look at that for sure. Thank you Goreti.

do a fake bottom and cake top tier

Yes you could use a polystyrene cake dummy for the bottom tier, cover that as you would the other 2 tiers. Use an 8" dummy, then do 6" and 4" real cakes on top.

Thanks guys that also seems like an interesting option I can work with. I guess this way the look of the design will still be in-tacked. I have to find a cake dummy here. Cake supplies are not so easily available here in india.
