Don’t know if I will get to use these on the birthday cake I’ve been asked to make. Made from modeling chocolate. I’m supposed to make a “really over the hill” cake. But just found out the recipient will be 69 and a typical type of over the hill cake may be touching a bit close to home. so, may take a different course with it. For now I’ve posted these because it was my first time trying at them and they are smaller than the palm of my hand.

friend wanted a frog themed cake, with bright pink flowers and the blue/green centers. Frog, “1”, balloons are made from gum paste, balloons are hollow so that the 28gage wire would hold them up. Saw a cartoon of a frog and used it as my inspiration, wanted a sweet face. Cake is chai /cappuccino, so far my most requested flavor.

first time trying flowers or a carriage, problems with the handle and ran out of time to fix it. vanilla cake, with chocolate butter cream filling and orange essence/vanilla butter cream outer frosting. Also for got my ruler so welcome didn’t line up. Still, mom to be loved it!

Made for my cake, never made it on the cake. Bottle stretched a bit when I went to place on background. This was my first attempt at painting detail. I liked it so much decided to save it. Made completely from fondant. Let it dry for about 6 weeks then framed.

Why 81? that is all I could fit in the box :) Vanilla with candy cane flavored butter cream iced caps. you can see which side of the box I was getting tired of piping.

Red Velvet with all cream cheese frosting. found out not as easy to work with :). First time piping, used butter cream.

My daughter said it had to be pink and yellow, go around, with mice and a motorcycle, and flowers. Not sure where she gets her ideas. So, a race is what the mice are on and the bike is the prize. One mouse wasn’t so clever and went the wrong way on her skate board. Another got to the race to early and decided on a nap. Which she then over slept and missed the race. The hiker simply was there to enjoy the time getting there and the flower head mouse thought that she was safe by getting there first and decided to take in the view, oops.

This was my first attempt at carving, only my second attempt at stacking and learned I should do my decorating at a normal hour. 1 am not such a good idea for decorating. The flowers however did end up matching the style on the plates. My girl was thrilled, so guess that’s what matters most :).

3 layer, choc, vanilla, strawberry with mild orange flavor butter cream.

my third cake, picture done as a royal icing transfer. This was the 5th transfer attempt. First had the best hair color. Gluten free cake, even got a hardened “no gluten free” person to try and she couldn’t tell :).

This was only my second cake to decorate. Didn’t have a tool for marking where to put lines, so didn’t think it was to bad for first attempt like this.

chocolate cake, it was a hit! lots of fun to make. fondant and gum paste figures.

Made for my Dad’s 65th, he no longer drives and rides his bike every where. objects are Gum paste with just a little bit of fondant mixed in.

Made for a friends birthday. fondant for all but the tickets, they were made with modeling chocolate. cake was made with Chai flavor and cappuccino flavored butter cream icing.
