Yes, Shirley, I loved her class and will probably watch it at least a couple more times. Did you make your crystals or buy them? I had the impression the ones used in the tutorial were purchased.

Sandra, I ordered white rock candy from Amazon, colored it by mixing assorted dust colors and alcohol. Poured the candy into the mixed colors and swirled it around with a spoon till they were all colored. Then I spread them on a plate and let them dry over night. In the tutorial of Rachael’s I am pretty sure hers were pre-made white rock candy colored after they were adhered to the cake.

After the discussion of “fake Cakes” that I seemed to have missed out on, I want to come back and make clear that this is a dummy cake. I posted such on Carftsy’s website and Rachael Teufel’s class projects. Living alone there is no way I could use a 3 tiered actual cake and I also wanted to keep this as a display for awhile. But yes, it is made of cake dummies, carved with a hot knife.
