I so agree with you – and I use a very small 3 or 4" rolling pin too – this was one of my main tools for the daisies I just made :-D

Yes Lulu…I’ve thought about purchasing a itty bitty rolling pin..obviously, very useful…

I have a tiny one and one like your medium one, but today in reminded how sore the heels of my thumbs getting from rolling out so much – I think I need a super heavy one like your big one!

I have both of the Wilton rolling pins which I love, but your heavy duty rolling pin looks awesome! I might have to invest in one of those!

I’m going to do it! Is this a good make? My hands hurt 😕 Thankyou for highlighting them 👍

I have versions of all 3… i don’t find the heavy ones easier though somehow, maybe that’s just me!

To start out with I just used an old wooden pin which had been in the kitchen for years. I realised pretty quickly it was close to useless and invested in a heavy duty, might break your toes if it fell on them, silicone covered pin. I found smaller silicone pins in Home Bargains for a fraction of the price I’d seen them selling for online and of equal quality. There’s absolutely no way a cake decorator could live without them. xx

Well Sawsen, I’d say perhaps a better word to describe it is hefty…it’s heavy, but not so as I cannot pick it up. I have arthritis in my hands, so I would find a weight heavy rolling pin too difficult to lift. It has great ball bearings which really helps move it easily. I’ve picked up those marble rolling pins…..now that’s heavy!! Not for me.
Emily: I’d never buy one online. You have to pick it up, see how it feels. Judge the weight. There so individual. I bought mine at a great decorating supply store with a good guarantee that if I didn’t like it after a month of use, I could return it.
Kizzy Kakes: Truer words were never spoken. You have to shop around…watch for a sale. Bought mine on sale, but it was still pricey. Buts it’s paid for itself many times over.

totally agree! I can’t live without my small rolling pin!

I am just having a chuckle reading the comments and remembering when i used to use a glass jar to roll things out! It took me a long time to buy my first rolling pin… and now I own 10!! :)

My marble rolling pin and small Wilton rolling pin come in handy all the time. I generally use them for all the cakes. The small one for detailing and the larger one for rolling out larger pieces of fondant. I will invest in the plastic rolling pin. HMM? I have never given it a try. My new simple/basic too that I love is my bench scraper. I use it push icing further down my piping bags. This helps a lot with keeping the icing from coming up to the top of the bag. :) Plus being able to scrap the last of frosting out of the bowl. :) Thank you for sharing
