I created this cake for my nephew Preston’s 7th birthday. He loves superheroes and ninjas, so I chose to do a ninja cake, but with a twist. I guess I was still feeling the Halloween spirit :) Thank you to my sister for giving me complete creative control, and allowing me to try something new with the figurine. I was sort of hesitant to tackle the ninja, but I know that I really need practice with creating figurines. This was the first time that I used a wire frame, as I wanted the ninja to be posed, and wasn’t sure how to do it any other way. I added modeling chocolate over the frame to complete him. The blades on his swords are made from gumpaste. The cake was chocolate, filled with vanilla buttercream and chocolate ganache. The cake was covered in fondant, textured and then painted with food colors. The throwing star was made out of modeling chocolate. And I knew no matter how it turned out, that my nephew would love it, and I think he did, and appreciated the twist! :)

I love the twist you put into your Ninja! Makes him look really fierce! Love how you did the mottled effect on the cake!
