I was so excited to get this order! Turns out the birthday boy has a very similar taste in music to myself so it was right up my alley!
The cake itself is a 9 inch round vanilla and white chocolate cake and as the birthday boy is a big lover of Christmas cake I made the ‘amp’ from a 3×4 inch rich fruit cake covered in marzipan and fondant. The colours are all airbrushed. All the decoration is handmade and completely edible including the guitar. The customer sent pictures of his guitar, amp and iPod to get me to replicate them for the cake. I used edible images of cd covers to add favourite bands on there and some handmade metal ‘studs’ too. The drum/board is covered to look like chequer plate steel and I think it really completes the look.
