Omg, I can’t believe you just steamed it, I was sort of against steamed cakes (I have seen way too many cake boss episodes and just didn’t like it) BUT YOU PROVED ME WRONG, YOUR CAKE LOOKS AMAZING STEAMED!!!!! From now on I will definitely consider steaming, seeing this beautiful cake!

I think Cake Boss over steams his cakes. In some episodes you can actually see the water dripping from the steamer (not a good thing for fondant)
If you steam it lightly, just enough to give it a natural shine, it will look awesome. Steam also enhances the colours.
