Ok so I have a big event coming up next month, my twin daughters 8th birthday and as I have now started making cakes they have asked for the biggest most elaborate cake that I have made so far. It will have all their favorite characters and I thought I’d make a start on some of the models that will go on the cake, so here is Tinkerbell made from modelling chocolate, she will go on top of the cake along with a few other characters which I still have to make.

thank you, I have worked on this all day, she has literally taken me 9 hours to complete :-)

oh I’m glad to have inspired you, that is a big compliment! I have been trying to make faces for a while now but have never been happy, I was trying with fondant but decided to give modelling chocolate a go, it took a few tries getting the recipe right but I think I have now worked it out and I definitely recommend modelling chocolate for more intricate work as you can take your time without worrying about it drying out xx

I’ve tried a few recipes but the best result was when I mixed 500g of white chocolate with 120ml of light corn syrup, if you are in the UK you can buy the corn syrup on amazon xx
