My Daughter's 1st Birthday Cake with Matching Smash Cake

I just realized that I did not post the photo of my daughter’s smash cake alongside her cake when I posted the main cake just over a month ago! So I thought I’d post it since I loved the fact that it matched the topper on the main cake.

I made the smash cake all out of cake whereas the topper was made from cereal treats so I could save it. She couldn’t really “smash” it since it was decorated in fondant, but she sure did enjoy ripping the sugar candle out of it and picking away at the bow and the accent flower!

A smash cake is a smaller cake just for the birthday boy or girl to play with. Sometimes people will have one at a photo shoot for the child’s 1st birthday that they send out to everyone. Others will have it at the party and let them play with it while others enjoy the main cake. Usually it’s decorated with whipped cream or buttercream so they can smash it and make a bit of a mess. Lots of fun!
