This was the very first topsy turvy cake I made. I’m not a huge fan of the style, but I decided it would work for the cake my cousin wanted. This was also made way back in July.
The cake is based on the Moshi Monster map, with the most notable features I chose being the Sun Compass, the “Here Be Monsters” sign, and the paint rainbow. I chose to create her three favourite Monsters to go on the cake: Poppet (who canonically does not wear sunglasses, but you gotta stay safe in the sun!), Luvli (who’s name makes me cringe), and Iggy.
The bottom tier is a banana chocolate mud cake, with banana buttercream. The top tier is a toffee sponge with caramel buttercream.
This cake made me dislike topsy turvy cakes more than ever. I think I’m just going to leave them to the folk who can either pull the style off, or who think they look good.
