Teresa Golden Wedding Cake

This cake is my sort of cake, although I have to say I had a hard time covering it. I have bought a new load of fondant which seemed fine when I tried the sample but now I am not so sure. I am getting lots of trouble getting it to adhere and it becomes very tacky after a while so that the smoother sticks and drags the fondant.

Goreti ...

It is beautiful! Would not have guessed that you had any trouble with it at all.

Thanks Goreti,

I have really lost my confidence. I mastered white chocolate ganache so I have a good firm base but this new fondant just sweats so badly! :-(

Lovely cake!!
If you find the smoother is sticking to the fondant dust a tiny
amount of powdered sugar on the fondant after you have
covered the cake and the smoothers should glide around the cake as normal.
Also, if you’re having trouble with getting the fondant to stick to the cake, try
using a pastry brush with a small amount of water and “paint” all over the cake to help
it stick, it just gives the butter-cream/ganache a sticky layer, it acts like a glue.
Hope this helps!! Xx
