This was the very first wedding cake I made – for April of this year. I had ended up in hospital the previous weekend with a severe inner-ear infection, so my balance and vision was absolutely shot for making and decorating this cake! Somehow, it all came together and I was incredibly proud of the result. The flowers (which I had made well in advance) matched the bride’s bouquet, and there are piped lace details round the middle tier that matched her dress. It was three different flavours, and by the end of the night there was 4 pieces left – which were eaten in the hotel that night!
(The light in the marquee was impossible to get a decent photo! Luckily the photographer got a couple)
