Yellow and green

I decided to try combining painting over sugar paste. As I had been practicing some new henna tattoo techniques, this was another opportunity to give it a go using food colouring paints – more difficult than using henna over skin, I discovered! :)
The cake was a watercress cake with a pumpkin jam filling. The idea was to use a complementing colour, so when the cake was cut into, there would be a green interior covered with yellow, plus the green details of the paint.

Thank you Kath’s Cakes!
Watercress makes the most wonderful cake – its got the right consistency to cut, its not too sweet, its great to hold any modelling, its (almost) organic and its green!!! (without using food colouring agents), which is a wonderful surprise for guests :)
