The Claret Jug Golf Trophy

The Claret Jug Golf Trophy
The Claret Jug Golf Trophy The Claret Jug Golf Trophy

This is my reproduction of the famous Claret Jug, the ambitious golf trophy of the Open Championship. The original trophy can be seen at The Royal and Ancient Golf Club in St Andrews or tightly kept in the hands of the most famous golf pros in the world, winner of the Open. A reproduction of this trophy is used once a year for a local golf tournament sponsored and attended by a group of English keen golfers who are coming to Lake Como for over a couple of decades. Each year, as for the Open, the name of the winner is engraved on the trophy. Mine is not identical and for sure not precise but it has a very special meaning: the tournament, unfortunately, is now played to honor the memory of one of the group. It happens rarely to meet a gentleman and this man was a real gentleman in his life as on the golf course. I worked on this cake with true dedication and enthusiasm and I feel really happy about the outcome. Although I have to confess that at one point I thought “Ouch, another Pisa Tower…”, ( it must be my Italian blood) but at the end with a bit of luck and a good balance the cake was absolutely stable. The trophy was made of cereal treat which I sculptured and then covered with fondant, the bottom is a three tier cake. Thank you for reading and looking : )

Hi ksara7! Unfortunately the result of the picture is a bit foggy, it must be the scottish origin of the trophy ;-)
