Happy Birthday to #TimBurton … an iconic visionary in the Film Industry.

To celebrate the birthday of American film director, producer, writer, artist and animator, 100 cake decorators from around the world have collaborated to create an edible collage worthy of the man with Hollywood’s most incredible imagination and enduring passion for all things bizarre!

The idea was hatched in March 2013 by our brilliant little leader; Tracey of @Little Cherry Cake Company , who is a BIG fan of #TimBurton. Popularity, renown and ability were not criteria for inclusion – just a willingness to work hard together and create something unique. Soon we rounded up our 100 team members and it was all systems go!

Each character has been recreated in sugar form; cake, cookies, butter cream, fondant, royal icing, modelling chocolate and other edible mediums. Our Burtonesque bakers embraced their inner Burton, stepped out of their comfort zones and stamped their own styles all over their chosen characters. You have got to see it to believe it

I chose to do MallyMkun , the fearless Dormouse Tim Burton created for Alice in Wonderland. This little fella’s role is not big, but my pull towards mice led me to choose this delightful little character voiced over by the imitable legend, Barbara Windsor.

Mummy this is dedicated to you, for all your hard work, sacrifices you made whist I was growing up, your love for my mice drawings and paintings and for keeping all my artworks and encouraging me when doubt set in… you were always my rock!!! You were near me when I made my little fella!!

Please visit http://www.cakenweenie.com/ to check out our complete collection as well as back stories and a little about the 100 Burtonesque bakers. I am honoured to be a part of this fantastic collaboration of 100 bakers worldwide.

We hope you’ll enjoy looking at our creations, as much as we enjoyed putting them together! xx its been an amazing journey!!
