Vintage Cake Lace

my first attempt at using cake lace, and I have to say I may be the only person in the country to prefer using sugar veil ?

so lovely—I’ve never used either one but love the look. I did try a recipe that I saw online that is supposed to be like sugarveil & used an inexpensive mat. Didn’t care for the taste. Did you taste them?

Goreti – no I haven’t tasted either funny enough but I found the sugar veil easier to work with and gives a more delicate finish I think the cake lace is thicker ? May just be me lol ! You don’t happen to know where I could find the recipe please as would be interesting to try that too x

I did end up using a little more water because I found mine too thick. Not sure if it has something to do with having a well & water softener in place. I was just playing with it with an inexpensive silicone mat & it worked. Since I don’t sell my cakes, can’t see paying the price of the real ones.
