Well I have to say, this is the most fun I’ve had making cake for ages.
These Minions are so popular, and I can see why. I loved making them, and the Banana song is infectious.
I went on You tube to see what they looked like before I started this project, and couldn’t stop replaying them singing the “BA BA BA BA BA BA BA BANANA” song. I’ve been singing it every since!!

Wow, these are so adorable!!!! You did a great job on the minions and the amazing cake! I didn’t get a notification of your posting new cakes until just a little while ago, but at least I got one this time!

Brilliant Karen!! minions are so cute and bananas look so real!! did you use fondant or florist paste for bananas? they are brilliant! :-)

Hi Elli, I used fondant and constructed them as if they were real bananas. I moulded the banana flesh in ivory fondant, then cut 4 slices of yellow as if you pulled the banana apart, then placed them around the banana each side, squeezed the bottom to make the stalk, and peeled back as far as I wanted it to go before drying in place. Then dusted with brown sugardust and dappled a little with a wet brush and some more brown sugarpaste.
Then ridged the banana as it would be in nature if you looked at a peeled banana. I get so tied up in detail some times that I know is probably not necessary, but I’m just like that ….lol :-) !!
