With most of my cakes, I have an open brief (which is the way I like it – that way I can add more decoration if the icing splits, which occurs far more often than I would like!).

Luckily this was the case again for this 60th birthday cake. Her invitations were pink, so I chose that as the main colour and when I went to deliver it, she had themed her party pink too so it all worked out really well.

The cupcakes just finished it off nicely I think.
