Home for a Hobbit

Home for a Hobbit
Home for a Hobbit Home for a Hobbit Home for a Hobbit Home for a Hobbit

When I was asked to make this cake I got pretty excited, especially since the home of Hobbits, otherwise known as Hobbitton and the location for the movie to be filmed, is about 1 and 1/2 hours drive away from where I live in New Zealand. This is my take on a Hobbit hole and my original design didn’t have the tree, but after I had sculpted it I felt it just needed to be there. I love the finished effect of the tree, I haven’t done this before with individually wired leaves but I found a very easy technique.
This was for a 13 year old who was from Australia but celebrating her birthday in NZ with her school group. They were all going to Hobbitton this afternoon after celebrating with the Birthday girl.

Not weird at all to wear the ring, but if you were wearing an elvish cloak as well now that would have started to look strange ;-) …..have to admit there was cutting & pasting involved in my post as I was in too much of a hurry to scroll up & have another look
