As a self taught home decorator, I was shocked when I was asked to submit a cake for possible publication in CC magazine! The theme was Beatrix Potter baby shower cakes. Right away I knew I wanted to use Peter Rabbit and incorporate lettuce somehow. So I put Peter on top standing on a head of lettuce, made the middle tier a ruffled green ombre design to loosely represent a head of lettuce and then made, what I call a “lettuce rose” and placed it at the base of the cake. I tried to tie the cake together by using the quilting effect on both the bottom tier and the plaque and by using the edible pearls (which I colored gold) on both the quilted tier and Peter’s jacket. It was such a thrill to have my cake published along side so many amazing cake artists who I look up to and admire!
