This is what she does best. She earns a living through sewing gowns, uniforms, dresses and mending clothes. She is a widow and raised her kids on her own. The cake was a part of the surprise celebration of her 65th Birthday collaborated by her children and grandkids. I enrobed each cake in fondant and used various impression rolling pins to represent the fabrics and laces that she worked with. I accented the tiers with buttons, thimbles, thread, her tape measure (a must and must be around her neck!), scissors, her tomato pin cushions with pearlized pins — all made from gumpaste.
