I’ve so enjoyed working on this luau cake this week – while it was dumping snow and freezing cold outside, my kitchen was transformed to the sandy beaches of Hawaii! Cake inspiration came from the paper plates being used at the party (see photo insert). It’s covered in swiss meringue buttercream with a fondant grass skirt for the bottom tier. The tiki man and coconut bra is rkt covered in modeling chocolate, and the hibiscus flowers are gumpaste.

Very nice Thea! I’m feeling you on the snow thing too. I got a bunch of rainbow colored gumpaste drying this week cause of the gloomy weather.
