Hats off! Hats off! Hats off! Hats off!

I made this cake for my aunt’s birthday party tonight. She is without question one of my most favorite people ever and this cake completely represents her! It is an 8" double barrel chocolate cake covered with MMF. The pattern on the side was done with sugar sheets and a Martha Stewart scrapbook punch. Couture Cakes by Rose did a small tutorial on the method but I’ve seen it done somewhere else as well. The flowers were made with modelling chocolate and the accessories were made with mexican sugar paste. A special thank you to Jessica Harris and her wonderful craftsy class.

Oh goodness me, how amazing and elegant. Stunning design

You must never limit your challenges, instead you must challenge your limits

thanks again! yellow is my aunt’s favourite colour and she belongs to a Red Hat group which is a social club of retired women who get together on a regular basis. it seems my aunt is always in a hat of some description so this cake really did represent who she is.
