The cake was for my uncle who celebrated his 50th birthday . I knew that he enjoys rum so I thought of making him a bacardi bottle as a cake topper.I had trouble covering this cake with fondant. The weather was bad. its 32c with 90% humidity here. The fondant started tearing and having dry cracked marks. After several unsuccessful attempts finally I managed to cover the cake without a problem.
It was a ribbon cake with one layer of strawberry flavoured cake and one layer of vanilla flavoured cake. I frosted it with vanilla buttercream.
The bottle was made out of rice crispy treats and covered with gumpaste. The label was made out of gumpaste and the name was painted with edible food colour . I used black edible food colour and edible gold glitter for the logo and the label.
