Sarah Wedding Cake and Cupcakes
This is a four tier fruit cake so was extremely heavy when assembled!!, the bride cake to us with some bunting and asked if we could re-create the patterns on each tier of her wedding cake. The bottom tier was more of a challenge as the brush embroidery was to be in colour to match the flowers on the bunting. Sample boards were made of brush embroidery and handmade flowers on but the final decision was to be a mixture of the brush embroidery and flowers in place of some of the flowers. I think the overall result was very effective and a good mixture of both. The second and fourth tiers were different size spots which were each cut out individually and stuck on with edible glue – very time consuming and I was seeing spots for hours! The third tier was bunting made from patterned sugar sheets to tie in with the colours on the cake but a slight different pattern to add a bit of different texture. The roses on the top are hand made starting with a darker colour and graduating out to a very pale pink with tumbling rose petals down the cake. The cupcakes are gluten free and covered to match 3 layers of the cake with spots and bunting. I was very pleased with the overall effect of the cake and thought it represented the brides taste to a tee!
