What do you do on snowy days? Play with leftover gum paste. The roses were made without any tools (Lisa’s way-LM cake design) and I really love doing them that way. Getting a real thin petal. No cutters used on the tulip either but I think the dimensions on the petals are a little off. If anyone has the cutters, I would love to know the dimension so that I can adjust my template.

Thank you all for your lovely comments. Nohaila, I love to challenge myself. I don’t own too many cutters because this is just a hobby for me. So I try to do things by making my own templates. My favorite thing to do is gumpaste flowers.

These are amazing as usual Goreti! I am going to have to try Lisa’s way of making roses, as mine never come close to being this realistic looking. I think the parrot tulip looks beautiful. When you use a template, do you make the template yourself from paper and then use an exacto knife to cut them out?

Dina, that is exactly what I do. I usually google the image (if I don’t have the actual flowers). I then draw it on paper or cardboard and then cut it out with an exacto knife. I know if takes much longer but I like the challenge. I love Alan Dunn’s book because he has some templates on the back of his books which I end up using.
