I loved everything about making this cake – a rich deep traditional fruit cake laced with the finest brandy and covered in marzipan and sugarpaste…. Tried to capture everything in the brief about this delightful dear lady from her love of flowers and gardening – lazing on the sun lounger to her favourite wine(Hardys Nottage Hill), favourite book (call the midwife), to her potted plants and she’s also affectionately known as the “silver fox” so you can find him lurking under her favourite blanket !
