I have been completely desperate to make a sorting hat cake for months and months and when a customer Masked me to make this one for her daughters 13th birthday i leaped at the chance!!! it was a complete joy to make and although it doesnt look it, it was one of the most simple cakes ive done! A lovely cakey friend made matching cupcakes which were briliant, which is why i left the cake plain as her toppers had all the Harry Potter bits and bobs on them!
Im really pleased with how this cake came out and i keep staring at the photo expecting it to say “hmmmmm Hufflepuff!” Happy birthday Izzy!
I posted both pics as i couldnt get the lighting right on the ‘proper’ one so included the one from my messy kitchen so that you could see what it looked like properly!
The cake was a sticky toffee cake with salted caramel buttercream!
