21st Birthday cupcake tower

I made this cake for a gorgeous, glamourous hairstylist who turned 21 yesterday. She held a Black and White themed birthday ball but she wore a bright red dress.

She loved the idea of incorporating her love of zebra print and simple black and white flowers. I thought the zebra print cases completed the look of the cupcakes. I initially decided to go with the zebra print sugar sheets to cover the sides of the cake but infact I found cutting out my own zebra stripes from black sugarpaste so much easier than I had anticipated and it gave a far better finish too. I added the crystal embellishments of her initial on the side of the topper cake and a 21 amongst the feathers and starburst.

She asked if I could make Ferrero Roche buttercream for the main cake. Id never come across this before but oh how wonderful did it taste????

She absolutely loved the finished result and I just gained a little more confidence in my fledgling cake-making career
