Somewhere over the rainbow

Somewhere over the rainbow.

This 6” cake stands at 5” tall and is a vanilla sponge cake filled and crumb coated with vanilla buttercream. The outside is covered with fondant, featuring a handpainted field of poppies and the cake sits on a fondant yellow brick road board. The shoes and figures are hand modelled out of sugarpaste and are entirely edible apart from a few cocktail sticks. I used edible glitter on the 3D number 5 and ruby slippers, labelled as safe for consumption in small amounts. The inside was a complete surprise to the birthday girl, seven layers of rainbow cake from red through to violet. I completely adored creating this cake!

Hahaha that’s so funny as I just commented on your spiderman cake. We were both commenting on each others cakes at the same time! Thank you :-)
