Ribbon Rose Minnie

I was hoping to give my newest Minnie cake a “different” look, but I’m not sure I succeeded with that as all Minnie cakes sort of look the same, don’t they? The cake was finished in crusting butter cream smoothed via the Viva method. Flowers, name plaque, ears, etc. are all fondant. “Addison” was traced onto a hand-cut fondant plaque and hand-painted with black food color mixed with vodka. I followed the brilliant tutorial from Cake Fixation (find it here: http://cakefixation.blogspot.com/2012/04/how-to-transfer-image-to-fondant.html ). The black Minnie hat was cake. I packed layers of cake and icing into my Tupperware tomato keeper (which is about 4" across and was the perfect size to sit atop my 6" cake). I just chilled it, flipped it out, covered it with buttercream, and then covered it with black fondant. Super easy and I used cake tops to do it, so that was a great way to not waste cake. (You can see a tomato keep here: http://imgc.classistatic.com/cps/blnc/120711/436r1/4726bm7_20.jpeg ). Thank you so much for taking time to look at my cake! xx

Wow, it’s stunning, Peggy! It does look different, but I understand what you mean about, they all look the same! But you’ve definitely put your own spin on it and it looks so delicate and perfect for a little girl! Well done. Xx
