A Look-In for 'New Look'
Well, the’re all out there, the sugar shoes .. Louboutin, Kurt Gaiger, you name it. Last week, I received a request for this New Look shoe! This lady was getting the shoes for her 18th birthday. What gorgeous shoes too!
I did not use any shoe moulds for this and all decorations are made with home-made sugarpaste. I made the template using the real shoe as a guide. It is absolutely possible to make a template without a real shoe as a guide (I’ve done it before!) but I have other guides for shoe cakes that don’t have a ‘model’ to hand’!
Here is the link to my facebook guide: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.418963564854515.97266.183774861706721&type=1&l=2a7d0df287
The lady ordering this for her daughter wanted a handbag to match (but of course New Look don’t have one!) so I designed this one to match the shoe. She was so thrilled with this and hasn’t cut it yet and now wishes she had this very bag as a real one! What greater compliment than that? I was so very touched.
Another last minute cake with only two days available to make this. I made the Primrose flower out of sugarpaste, using a real one from the garden as a guide and a real leaf for the veining. I used a small heart cutter for the petals and pulled the centres out using a veining tool. The first photo features the real shoe next to it which I copied.
