Fairy Village Cake

This cake was created for my granddaughter’s 5th birthday, she requested a surprise cake!

It consists of 2 4” vanilla sponges sandwiched together with buttercream to form the body of the main toadstool, I then used half of a ball pan on top of this to give the top of the mushroom more structure. I put one down through these and covered with fondant.
I used a 3” round cake for the middle mushroom, just placing a fondant top on it. The tiny one is just fondant.

I made the fairies in advance using both fondant and flower paste. I stuck the larger fairies wings on with Royal Icing, which is my tip for strength. Then go ahead and decorate to your hearts content.

Don’t forget a little sprinkle of fairy glitter!

I had so much fun doing this fairy village and she was thrilled.
