I’ve been wanting to make a birdcage for a while now, so I decided to make one for my birthday. Since I also wanted to enter the quarterly competition, I decide to incorporate both into one cake. The bottom tier is a strawberry cake with strawberry cream cheese filling. The birdcage is white chocolate mud cake with caramel filling. Both cakes are iced with butter cream and the decorations and flowers are made from fondant. This was my first attempt at a ruffled cake, birdcage and fuschias.
