Kai-Lan Cake

My cake making has been pretty limited to cakes for my granddaughters’ birthdays. This one was fond of Kai-Lan and so the cake had to follow. This was one of my early cakes….not that there has been that many…but continue to learn. This one is iced with a recipe my mother-in-law gave me that she used for cake decorating. It dries to touch so is useful depending on what you want to do. I laid a paper towel over it once it began to dry and used a wooden spoon to make it smooth. If you look closely you can see the embossed swirl from the paper towel which ended up going with the sky background. “Good morning Mr. Sun” is a theme of the show. I used a variety of cutters and tools to make the flowers.
