M. Mouse Sweet

Client’s request for Minnie Mouse themed cake (3rd Thumbnail) and colors to resemble provided invite.

Bottom tier was made of chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream and covered in yellow fondant. The “sides” were finished with pink fondant “1’s” and the mouse head with bow. The tier was finished with a pink plaid-like ribbon.

Top tier was a vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream and covered in pink fondant. The fondant was decorated with white fondant circles and topped with a pre-made gumpaste bow. Like the bottom tier, I finished it off with more pink plaid-like ribbon.

The cake could not be complete without the ever-famous ears! (4th Thumbnail: before the ears) The ears were done in fondant with added rolled fondant stabilizer. Fondant was rolled thin like a potato chip (a last minute idea that came to mind about 3 hours before delivery). The ears were placed in a dehydrator for 20 minutes to kick up the drying process and to produce a real chip-effect as again, only had 3 hours remained until delivery. The “chips” were placed in the cake behind the bow with a little overly excited help from the clients daughter (she did the right ear). The ears were perfect! Not too heavy, and not too one-sided.
