This was a last minute cake that I was given exactly 2 days notice on. The recipient loves fishing (& thats about all I knew about him). I was only asked to make a Spice Cake with “that sweet buttercream that comes on grocery store cakes” (which I interpreted to mean…American Buttercream…which is not my fav medium). Anyway, I decided to try my hand at cake-painting…but I only wanted to cover it in buttercream. After a bit of research, I decided to choose a crusting buttercream, ice the day before to get a good crust on it…and go for it! And it worked! Yay! I then dusted around the painting with cinnamon to give it more of a rustic feel. Thanks for looking!
