Our Christmas Cake House
Finally, I got to make a cake for us. A rare event! I had been going to finish a mouse themed cake I didn’t finish a couple of years ago but changed my mind when I had a flash of inspiration …. We are blessed and so lucky to live in a very beautiful house in the countryside which we built in 2006 soon after we were married. I was looking at some photos of the house taken after a snowfall … that is when the idea jumped into my head! So I dug out the architect’s drawings and set to work in November. The final details at the end are very scrappy as time ran out, but the general gist of our house is there. The backdrop is fondant-covered cake board and the leaves, holly and snowberries are cold porcelain. The little white MGA in the forecourt is not my best effort but it is often parked there… although not usually in the winter! Boozy Fruit cake marzipanned and royal iced. The cladding etc is sugarpaste. The tree is also Christmas Cake.
