Snowflake wedding cake!!
6, 8, 10 and 12 inch cakes, covered in fondant, airbrushed in pearl, then dusted with a sparkly petal dust. I used a pretty piece of ribbon at the base of each cake.
Snowflakes were made using an assortment of snowflake cutters, including some plunger cutters, and a nice set of cutters that I bought at Williams Sonoma. Snowflakes were cut out of 100 % gumpaste, allowed to dry completely, attached to assorted wire guages using royal icing, allowed to dry again, airbrushed in pearl, and immediately dipped into petals dust and edible glitter while still damp from the airbrush color. The snowflakes had to dry completely before transporting, along with the cakes, to the venue, where I attached them after I got the cake assembled!!
after the cake was completely assembled, I used some tiny, battery operated candle lights, that I bought at Hallmark, and I hid them behind the snowflakes, giving a beautiful glow surrounding the cake!!
This is my favorite cake ever! it seemed appropriate for the upcoming holiday season!!
