Circus Cake for Brax

This cake was inspired by many found on the internet, the picture I was given was from Elite Cakes. It took about a week and a half to complete, including an all-nighter right at the end. I had severely under-estimated just how much work was in all the fine details. Even with all the long hours, I loved every minute of making all these happy little characters. I also got to make my very first Smash Cake – lots of fun! :) Please excuse the terrible photography :) ♥

This is gorgeous!!! I was glad to hear you said it took a week, as I always think I am the only person who spends that much time on a cake like this. I always think others are breezing thru their cakes in a day, lol. May I ask what you used for your poles and on the flags to keep them up.

Oh…and thanks Jo and Shags…your comments just popped up! Shags, I used bamboo kebab skewers painted with edible gel colour and then twisted ribbon around them. They’re all straight into the cake apart from the 2 on the board which are pushed into half a styro ball that I covered with fondant. I used a little dab of melted chocolate to secure, just in case ;) xx

When I was a brand new decorator (hell, I’m STILL a brand new decorator, but I digress), I took on a 3-tiered circus cake, having NO clue how much work it would be. 55 hours’ worth of labor later, barely able to hold up my head or swallow my own spit, I finished. It was 2 years ago and I’ve barely recovered haha! I guess my point is this: I know what went into this great big job and you did it beautifully!!!
