This was an important cake to get right as it was for my mums 80th. She let us celebrate with a party with all our family, friends and neighbours! It was the first happy gathering as she lost my dad and my sister last year. Mum is an amazing seamstress and is so particular in getting everything she sews to be perfect. I always remember as a kid helping to reorganise her sewing box, she also still has a biscuit tin of old buttons, which I always thought was so fascinating!
