Christening Cake for Ryan

This lady wanted a plain cake without any religious symbols but with simple ‘wooden’ block lettering decorations and ‘woollen’ booties. I added the little teddy because I thought the first tier looked a little empty. I opted for real ribbon in the booties as icing ones snap easily which is not ideal if she wanted to keep them. Chocolate fudge cake and victoria sponge. All decorations made with home made sugarpaste. Ithey thought the wooden blocks were actual wood, so I was very chuffed about that! I make my sugarpaste using a recipe by Tombi Peck.

The blue frill has imperfections because I had been going to add a layer of white lacy frill on top but ran out of time so unfortunately they were exposed! She was thrilled with this cake so I guess it didn’t matter after all..
