My first attempt at a ‘fancy’ cake since having hand surgery a few months ago. I put my skills to the test, working with several different mediums including modeling chocolate, wafer paper, gumpaste, and fondant. The partial bas relief is a 50/50 modeling chocolate/fondant combination. The flowers on top are wafer paper, and the blue hydrangea petals are gumpaste. The bas relief is accented with silver luster dust to bring out the texture and add some sparkle.
