First of all you did great even with the smaller board. Something that might help in the future in a case like this would be to just keep a large sheet of foam core board on hand. Then you could always cut it the size that you would need, a much less expensive option than what that local shop was asking. Another inexpensive option would be to use cardboard cut to size from boxes and covered to be food safe. In any case, Stanley must have been thrilled! You made his dream come true :)

Like The Garden Baker, I keep extra foam core handy and hubby has odd sheets of plywood in the basement, just in case. I very rarely need a large board tho since I’m strictly a hobby baker.

He is perfect, you did a fabulous job! I, too, am a hobby baker and have never purchased a cake board. I use either three or four (depending upon the weight) thicknesses of cardboard taped/glued together and covered with two thicknesses of aluminum foil or plywood, rendered food safe in the same way.

I have foam core board but just the thin stuff (it’s under him😂😂) time sometimes I’d just to short isn’t it x 😘😍😘
