BUTTERCREAM PAINTED CAKE

Daily Top 3 - Jul 01, 2018

This technique has been on my bucket list for awhile, palette knife painting with buttercream. I wanted something completely different for my birthday cake this year. Not as easy as it looks, especially for a perfectionist like me!! I made the head/face quite awhile ago and decided to use on my cake, a face in a flower. Had to add a nod to Canada 🇨🇦 Day, which is my birthday, with a maple leaf on the back of my cake. The bottom two tiers are dummies. The top smaller tier is chocolate orange and hazelnut all buttercream cake. Just enough for 2.

Supplies: buttercream meringue powder colour gel colour dust gumpaste cake board gum glue royal icing

Tools: palette knife molds hot water paint brushes

Splendid job, June! Buttercream painting is on my bucket list too but quite daunting in this Arizona heat and even more daunting if it wasn’t easy for you! Happy Birthday!
